To commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Perryville, tweens and teens will discover what it was like to be a surgeon during the Civil War.
Bryan Bush, park manager of the Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site, will discuss the aftermath of the battle and how the citizens of Danville helped to care for the wounded soldiers. Attendees will learn all about the medicines and instruments available to surgeons at that time, gain insight into the early use of ambulances and triage centers, and observe original medical artifacts from the Civil War.
