This Week at the Library: December 4-9, 2017

The Boyle County Public Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the year. Weekly programs include Adult Storytime on Mondays at 9:00 a.m., Crafters Who Care on Mondays at 6:00 p.m., Coding Classes on Mondays and Thursdays at 4:00 p.m., and Storytimes on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. In addition to these weekly events, the following Library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:

 

FOR ADULTS

Author Visit and Book Signing with Angela Correll
Monday, December 4th at 4:00 p.m.

The Friends of the Library will host an author visit and book signing with best-selling author Angela Correll on Monday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the Library. Correll is presenting Granted, her final installment in the May Hollow Trilogy. To celebrate the book launch, the Friends of the Library will be giving away paperback copies of the book to the first ten people who arrive at the event. The Friends will also be holding a grand prize drawing for a signed set of the May Hollow Trilogy. Refreshments will be served.

About the author: Angela Correll lives on a farm in Central Kentucky with her husband, Jess, and an assortment of grass-fed cattle, horses, goats, and chickens. Correll created a business selling goat milk soap called Kentucky Soaps & Such that now operates as a soap-making factory and retail shop on Main Street in Stanford. She and her husband are also co-owners of the Bluebird Café, a farm-to-table restaurant, with Executive Chef William Hawkins. 

 

Community Blood Drive
Wednesday, December 6th from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The City of Danville Community Blood Drive will be held in the Community Room at the Library on Wednesday, December 6th. For more information, or to schedule an appointment to donate, call 800-775-2522 or go to kybloodcenter.org.

 

National Letter Writing Day
Thursday, December 7th at 6:00 p.m.

'Tis the season to be thankful! Come learn proper etiquette on when and how to write a thank you note. A variety of notecards will be provided as well as one first class stamp per participant.

 

Cookbook Club
Thursday, December 7th at 6:00 p.m.

On Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. the Library will host the Cookbook Club. Each month will feature a different theme. In December the theme is Finger Foods. Participants will make and share different recipes with the club. They’ll hear what others liked about the recipe they tried, as well as taste-test samples and discover new recipes. Contact the Library for more information and to register. Registration is required.

 

 FOR TWEENS

Tween Advisory Group (TAG)
Monday, December 4th at 4:00 p.m.

Tween Advisory Group will meet on Monday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. TAG provides a way for tweens to have fun planning events while volunteering their time at the library. This month participants will talk about upcoming winter programs and play "Book Speed Dating" to quickly give emoji rankings to new books. For more information about tween programs, see Ms. Kinsey Hisle in the Children’s Library. For ages 9-13.

 

Now Playing Night
Thursday, December 7th at 4:00 p.m.

On Thursday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. the Library will host "Now Playing Night," a fun afternoon where tweens can hang out the Library playing board games and watching a movie. This month, we’ll show a film based on the first novel in the popular Harry Potter book series. Popcorn and drinks will be provided. For ages 9-13.
