The Boyle County Public Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the year. Weekly programs include Adult Storytime on Mondays at 9:00 a.m., Crafters Who Care on Mondays at 6:00 p.m., Coding Classes on Mondays and Thursdays at 4:00 p.m., and Storytimes on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. In addition to these weekly events, the following Library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:


Adult How-To: Homemade Root Beer
Monday, October 30th at 6:00 p.m. 

The Library offers a monthly "How-To" program series for adults where participants can explore the information and skills needed for a new hobby or activity, guided by a local expert. On Monday evening at 6:00 p.m., the Library will host "How to Make Homemade Root Beer," presented by Miranda Woodall of Alltech. At this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the science behind making root beer and how to make their own. This free program will be held in the Community Room. Cookbook Club: Crockpot Meals
Thursday, November 2nd at 6:00 p.m. 

On Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. the Library will host the Cookbook Club. Each month will feature a different theme. In November the theme is Crockpot Meals. Participants will make and share different crockpot recipes with the club. They’ll hear what others liked about the cookbook and the recipe they tried, as well as taste-test samples and discover new recipes. Contact the Library for more information and to register. Coloring & Conversation
Thursday, November 2nd at 6:00 p.m. 

The Library will host a coloring club for adults on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. Many adults have rediscovered the joys of coloring as a way to relax and combat stress. The club, which is done in partnership with the Boyle County Cooperative Extension office, meets on the first Monday of the month in the Reading Room.

Fall Film Series: Director’s Showcase (Week 7)
Thursday, November 2nd at 7:00 p.m. 

The Friends of the Library continue with their annual Fall Film Series on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. Films will be shown on Thursday evenings in the Community Room through mid-November. The post film discussion will be led by Charles Vahlkamp. Popcorn will be available and there is no charge for admission.

This week we'll be showing Cookie's Fortune. In this film from 1999, conflict arises in a small town when an old woman’s death causes a variety of reactions among friends and family.



Tween Costume Party
Monday, October 30th at 4:00 p.m. 

The Library will host a Halloween Costume Party for tweens on Monday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Tweens (ages 9-13) are invited to come to the Library dressed in costume and play Halloween-themed games. Snacks will be provided.


Kid’s Book Club (Week 3)
Tuesday, October 31st at 4:00 p.m. 

On Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., the Library will host the Kid’s Book Club. The club will meet weekly for six weeks on Tuesdays at 4:00 p.m., and is recommended for children who are in grades 1-3. Each week we’ll read a different book from one of our favorite series. This week we’ll be reading the Magic Treehouse book, Mummies in the Morning by Mary Pope Osborne. Children are invited to come discuss the book, participate in themed games and crafts, and enjoy snacks. Registration is required.

Tween Gaming
Thursday, November 2nd at 4:00 p.m. 

The Library will host "Tween Gaming" on Thursday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Tweens (ages 9-13) are invited to come play an assortment of board games at the Library. Tweens are encouraged to bring their friends along with them to enjoy some friendly competition in a fun atmosphere. Snacks will be provided.

Friday, November 3rd at 4:00 p.m. 

The Library will host LEGO Club on Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in the Storytime Room. The finished LEGO creations will be placed on display in the Children’s Library.
