This Week at the Library: April 11-14

The Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the year. Weekly programs include Crafters Who Care on Mondays at 6:00 p.m., Storytimes on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, and Coding Clubs on Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m. In addition to these weekly events, the following Library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:

Teens Write Tuesday
Tuesday, April 11th at 4:00 p.m.

The Library hosts a monthly group for teens (ages 13-18) who love to write. Participants can bring a past original work to share or they can participate in the monthly writing prompt. Teens Write meets on the second Tuesday of the month in the Conference Room at the Library.

Mahan Gallery Reception for the "Private Collections" Art Exhibit
Tuesday, April 11th at 4:30 p.m.

The Library and the Arts Commission of Danville/Boyle County will host a Gallery Reception on Tuesday, April 11th at 4:30 p.m. All of the pieces featured in the "Private Collections" exhibit have been created by local artists and are on loan from private collections.

Nutrition Condition (Week 2)
Thursday, April 13th at Noon

The Library will be hosting "Nutrition Condition," a health and wellness workshop series offered in partnership with the Boyle County Cooperative Extension Office. Workshop participants will learn how to improve their nutrient intake and learn how to eat better on a budget. Registration is encouraged.

Tween Sand Art
Thursday, April 13th at 4:00 p.m.

Tweens (ages 9-13) are invited to create unique works of art by layering colorful sand inside a jar. Registration is required. This event will be held in the Storytime Room.


Coloring and Conversation
Thursday, April 13th at 6:00 p.m.

Once a month the Library hosts a coloring club for adults. Many adults have rediscovered the joys of coloring as a way to relax and combat stress. The club, which is done in partnership with the Boyle County Cooperative Extension office, will meet on the second Monday of the month in the Mahan Gallery. Spring Film Series: Comedy Tonight! (Week 7)
Thursday, April 13th at 7:00 p.m.

The Friends of the Library continue with their annual Spring Film Series on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Films will be shown on Thursday evenings in the Community Room at the Library through mid-April. The post-film discussion will be led by Charles Vahlkamp. Popcorn will be available and there is no charge for admission. This week we'll be showing Best in Show. In this film from 2000, a colorful array of characters compete at a national dog show. This is the final film in this series.

Computer Classes

In the ongoing effort to promote lifelong learning, the Library offers a wide variety of free computer classes every month. The following classes are scheduled for this week:

Facebook on Wednesday, April 12th at 2:00 p.m.

How to Spot Fake News on Thursday, April 13th at 3:00 p.m.

Intro. to Microsoft Word on Thursday, April 13th at 4:00 p.m.

Android Devices on Friday, April 14th at 11:00 a.m.

Apple iPad/iPhone on Friday, April 14th at 2:00 p.m.
