This Week at the Library: August 1-5, 2016

The Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the year. Weekly programs include Crafters Who Care on Mondays at 6:00 pm and Open Chess on Thursdays at 4:00 pm. In addition to these weekly events, the following Library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:



Mahan Gallery Art Exhibit Opening Reception

Thursday, August 4th from 5:30-7:30 pm

On Thursday, August 4th from 5:30-7:30 pm, the Library will host the Opening Reception for "Vibrant Heritage," the August art exhibit in the Mahan Gallery. Giving a nod to the Soul of Second Street Festival, this exhibit will feature paintings from Harold LaRue as well as highlight other local African-Americans in the arts. The exhibit will be on display August 1 through September 10, 2016. The Mahan Gallery is located just off the main floor of the Library in the Mahan House.

 

"Put Yourself on Second Street" Green Screen Project

Thursday, August 4th from 5:30-7:30 pm

On Thursday, August 4th from 5:30-7:30 pm, the Library will be hosting a green screen project in the Library Lobby. Using green screen technology, patrons will be able to insert their images onto Second Street circa 1950s.

 

LEGO Club

Friday, August 5th at 4:00 pm

The Library will host LEGO Club on Friday, August 5th at 4:00 pm in the Storytime Room. The finished LEGO creations will be placed on display in the Library.
