Countertenor Joshua Steinbach to Perform at the Library

March 11, 2016

The Boyle County Public Library will host "What is a Countertenor and How Can He Do That?" on Sunday, March 13th at 3:00 pm. Presented by Liz Orndorff and Louisville countertenor Joshua Steinbach, the public is invited to come hear Steinbach demonstrate his unique gift – and learn why and how countertenors have performed throughout musical history.

As background for the story presented by Scarlet Cup Theater in the play Aidan's Gift by Elizabeth Orndorff (to be performed March 16-19 at the Third Street Methodist Church), Steinbach will explain the role of the countertenor and give examples of specific musical numbers. Liz Orndorff will supplement with a history of the use of countertenors.

Steinbach is a student at the University of Kentucky, where he majors in music and computer science. Annually he plays the role of Amahl in Amahl and the Night Visitors. When he is not riding his motorcycle, he'll be found waiting tables at Malone's.
