Solar Eclipse Viewing Party

Solar Eclipse Viewing Party

Welcome to a totally spaced out celebration and viewing of the 2024 total solar eclipse! The library is hosting a party with activities and snacks all afternoon during the eclipse. Maximum viewing will be at 3:08 PM. Pick up your FREE safety glasses at the library on April 8 to view the eclipse! Glasses will be given out all day while supplies last.

A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. In the path of totality, the sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk. While we are close to the path of totality, the total phase of this solar eclipse is not visible in Danville, but it can be observed there as a partial solar eclipse.

Don’t miss this opportunity! After the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, the next total solar eclipse that could be seen from the United States will be in August 2044.
