The Library has several special services for teachers (preschool through grade 8) to support and extend classroom activities. The Library offers the following resources for educators:
Librarians are available to give class tours of the library. Tours may also include storytimes, book talks, library skills, OPAC instruction, computer lab usage, and other activities. To arrange a class tour, please contact the Children’s Library at least two weeks before your requested tour date.
Transportation Grant for Library Visits
Through a local grant, the Library is able to offer travel expense reimbursements to teachers who utilize school bus transportation to bring their students to the Library for tours, projects, or programs. Travel reimbursement request forms are available from the Youth Services librarians.
Librarians are available to visit schools and classrooms for storytimes, book discussions, and explanation of library resources, services or programs. To arrange a school visit, please contact the Children’s Library at least two weeks before your requested visit date.
The bookmobile is available to visit schools for book selection and check out. Valid library cards are required to check out materials. To arrange a bookmobile visit, please contact the Outreach Department at least one week before your requested visit date.
Librarians are available to visit classrooms or teacher trainings to discuss and demonstrate any of our databases or eMedia platforms. Click here for a complete listing of databases.
Librarians are available to pull a selection of materials for in-class units or projects. Please contact the Children’s Library at least one week in advance of your requested pick up date. A valid library card is required to check out materials.
Book discussion kits are available for small groups. Book kits have a checkout period of 4 weeks and allow for 1 renewal. Click here for a complete listing of book kit titles.
