This Week at the Library: November 27-December 3, 2017

The Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the year. Weekly programs include Adult Storytime on Mondays at 9:00 a.m., Crafters Who Care on Mondays at 6:00 p.m., Coding Classes on Mondays and Thursdays at 4:00 p.m., and Storytimes on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. In addition to these weekly events, the following Library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:



Adult How-To: Introduction to Meditation
Monday, November 27th at 6:00 p.m.

The Library offers a monthly "How-To" program series for adults where participants can explore the information and skills needed for a new hobby or activity, guided by a local expert. On Monday evening at 6:00 p.m., the Library will host "Introduction to Meditation," presented by Sarah Cheatham. At this workshop, participants will learn how to clear the mind and relax as we head into the holiday season. This free program will be held in the Community Room.



Teen Book Club
Tuesday, November 28th at 4:00 p.m.

The Teen Book Club will meet at the Boyle County Public Library on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 pm. The book club, for ages 13-18, will be discussing Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Snacks will be provided.



Tween Writing Group
Monday, November 27th at 4:00 p.m.

The Library will host a writing group for tweens (ages 9-13) on Monday afternoon. Each month will feature a different topic. This month participants will write six-word memoirs for ourselves and our favorite characters. Snacks will be provided.


Mouse Paint Tie Dye Workshop
Tuesday, November 28th at 4:00 p.m.

On Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., children can create their own stuffed animal to take home. Participants will stuff and tie dye a mouse using special bottle paint to make a colorful creation. Space is limited and registration is required. Call the Library to register.


Tween Lab
Thursday, November 30th at 4:00 p.m.

The Boyle County Public Library offers a monthly STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) lab for tweens (ages 9-13) where they can try out a different experiment each month. On Thursday afternoon 4:00 p.m., tweens will be making Lemon Volcanoes.


Kid's Homeschool Book Club
Friday, December 1st at 2:00 p.m.

The Kid's Homeschool Book Club will meet on Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Led by Children's Librarian Libby McWhorter, this book club is designed for children ages 5-8 and features a book discussion, trivia activities, and snacks. This month, participants are reading Outbreak! Plagues the Changed History by Bryn Barnard. Register for this club in the Children's Library.


Friday, December 1st at 4:00 p.m.

The Library will host LEGO Club on Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in the Storytime Room. The finished LEGO creations will be placed on display in the Children’s Library.


Children's Ornament Workshop
Sunday, December 3rd at 2:00 p.m.

On Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., the Library will host an ornament making workshop for children. Choose from three ornament designs to make and take home to decorate your own tree. This event will be held in the Storytime Room.
