This Week at the Library: June 7-10, 2017

The Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the year. Weekly programs include a Summer Coding Club on Mondays at 4:00 p.m., Crafters Who Care on Mondays at 6:00 p.m., and Storytimes on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. In addition to these weekly events, the following Library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:


Puppy Visit & Family Craft
Wednesday, June 7th at 10:00 a.m. 

On Wednesday, June 7th at 10:00 a.m., the Library will host the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society, who will be bringing puppies to the Library. Visit with the puppies then make a toy for an animal at the shelter at the toy making station. All ages are invited to participate.


Coloring and Conversation
Thursday, June 8th at 6:00 p.m. 

The Library will host a coloring club for adults on Thursday, June 8th at 6:00 p.m. Many adults have rediscovered the joys of coloring as a way to relax and combat stress. The club, which is done in partnership with the Boyle County Cooperative Extension office, meets on the second Monday of the month in the Mahan Gallery. Anyone who attends this month will receive a free set of coloring pencils to take home. 

Teen Crafternoon: 3-D Hot Glue Art
Friday, June 9th at 1:00 p.m. 

Teen Crafternoon will be held on Friday, June 9th at 1:00 p.m. Led by Julia Basil, this monthly program features a different artistic craft or activity each month. In June, we’ll be making 3-D objects with hot glue. This free event will be held in the Mahan Gallery and is open to all teens (ages 13-18). Call the Library to register.


Gallery Hop Stop and David & Kate Farmer Artist Reception
Friday, June 9th from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. 

The Library will host a Gallery Hop Stop on Friday, June 9th from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. As part of this event, the Library will be hosting an artist reception for David and Kate Farmer, whose work will be on display in the Mahan Gallery through the end of June. 

Upcoming Computer Classes

In the ongoing effort to promote lifelong learning, the Library offers a wide variety of free computer classes every month. The following classes are coming up:

Plan Your Vacation Online on Tuesday, June 13th at 2:00 p.m.

Staying Safe Online on Thursday, June 15th at 2:30 p.m.

Build a Better Resume on Friday, June 16th at 2:00 p.m.

A complete listing of monthly computer classes can be found on the Library’s website. Those interested in attending any of the classes may register online or by calling the Library. In addition to these classes, one-on-one computer support is also available by appointment.
