"Drop Your Drawers" Challenge

December 8, 2016

The Boyle County Public Library has partnered with the Family Resource Centers in Danville and Boyle County to collect new underwear for elementary school students. The Library has set a goal to collect at least 1,000 pairs by December 31st. The donated items will be distributed to the six elementary schools to help replenish the schools’ supplies of emergency underwear.

The donations for "Drop Your Drawers" have been coming in steadily since the campaign began in early November, but 800 pairs of underwear are still needed to reach the goal. In an effort to increase community involvement, the Library is challenging local businesses, civic organizations, and community groups to participate in the "Drop Your Drawers" Challenge. The DYD Challenge will run from December 5-16. The team who donates the most underwear will win the DYD Challenge. The winning team will earn bragging rights and a selection of homemade desserts prepared and delivered by Library staff.

Teams interested in taking part in the DYD Challenge should bring their donations of new underwear (boys and girls sizes 4-16) to the Library on or before December 16. DYD Challenge donations should include the name of the business or organization to ensure proper credit. Photos of donations are encouraged and will be posted on the Library’s Facebook page. The winning team will be announced on Monday, December 19th. For additional information about the DYD Challenge, email Jen Boutin at jboutin@boylepublib.org.
