The Boyle County Public Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the year. Weekly programs include Crafters Who Care on Mondays at 6:00 pm, Coding Club on Wednesdays at 4:00 pm, and Open Chess on Thursdays at 4:00 pm. In addition to these weekly events, the following Library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:

Election Meet and Greet

Tuesday, October 25th at 4:00 pm

The Friends of the Library will host an Election Meet & Greet on Tuesday, October 25th beginning from 4:00 - 5:30 pm at the Boyle County Public Library. This is an opportunity for residents of Boyle County to meet state and local candidates and incumbents. This event will be held in the main lobby at the Library. Refreshments will be served.

Legal and Financial Planning for Alzheimer’s Disease Workshop

Wednesday, October 26th at 10:00 am

The Alzheimer's Association will be hosting an educational workshop on Wednesday, October 26th at 10:00 am at the Library. Stephen A. Dexter from Sheehan, Barnett, Dean, Pennington, Little, & Dexter, P.S.C. will speak about legal and financial issues to consider when planning for Alzheimer’s Disease. Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Puppy Visit

Wednesday, October 26th at 10:00 am

October is Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog month. On Wednesday, October 26th from 10:00-11:30 am, the Library will host a Puppy Visit with the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society where patrons will be able to meet and play with puppies from the shelter. Information about pet adoption will also be available. Weather permitting, the puppies will be on the lawn outside the Reading Garden at the Library.

Fall Film Series: Campaigns, Politics & Presidents (Week 5)

Thursday, October 27th at 7:00 pm

The Friends of the Library continue with their annual Fall Film Series on Thursday, October 27th at 7:00 pm. Films will be shown on Thursday evenings in the Community Room at the Library through early November. The post-film discussion will be led by Charles Vahlkamp. Popcorn will be available and there is no charge for admission. In this week's film from 1995, a widowed president learns that his personal life may make his chances of being re-elected more difficult.   

Tween Homeschool Book Club

Friday, October 28th at 2:00 pm

The Tween Homeschool Book Club meets on the last Friday of the month at 2:00 pm. The next club meeting being held on October 28th. This month participants will discuss Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine. Those interested in attending may register in the Children’s Library. (Ages 9-13.)

One Book Community Reading Project Features Kentucky Author

Friday, October 28th at 4:00 pm

The Boyle County Public Library is joining with 8 other counties in our region to participate in a One Book Community Reading Project this October. The selected title for this year’s One Book program is Eli the Good, a Young Adult novel by Silas House.

Throughout the month, book clubs in the nine counties will be reading and discussing the novel.  This is the first time these nine counties have joined together to read and discuss the same book. The books, which are available at participating libraries, were very generously donated by Silas House for the One Book project. On Friday, October 28th at 4:00 pm, the Boyle County Public Library will host a community book discussion on Eli the Good for teens and adults. This event will be held in the Community Room.
