Summer Reading Continues at the Library

The Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the summer. Weekly programs for children to be held at the Library include the Kid’s Book Club on Tuesdays at 2:00 pm, the Kindergarten Summer Science Club on Thursdays at 10:00 am, and the "Try-It-Out" Club on Thursdays at 11:00 am.  In addition to these weekly events, the following Library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:



Family Guided Hike at the Dupree Nature Preserve

Tuesday, June 28th at 10:00 am

The overarching theme of the 2016 Summer Reading Program is wellness, fitness, and sports. In keeping with this theme, the Library is offering guided hikes suitable for all ages. On Tuesday, June 28th at 10:00 am, a guided hike will be offered at the Dupree Nature Preserve in Garrard County. The Preserve has three miles of frontage along the Kentucky River and an upland forest of chinquapin oak, white ash, beech, and other trees. It also harbors the unusual and declining Yellowwood tree. The Dupree Nature Preserve is located at 2991 Pollys Bend Road in Lancaster, KY. Hikers will need to meet the guide at 10:00 am at the Hiking Trail Entrance service gate by the parking lot. Directions to the hike are available at the Library.


Inter-County Reptiles and Amphibians

Wednesday, June 29th at 10:00 am (Library)

Wednesday, June 29th at 11:30 am (Hogsett Elementary School)

The Library will offer two showings of Inter-County Reptiles and Amphibians at two separate locations. At both events, guests can get an up-close look at some of the reptiles and amphibians native to Kentucky. The first program will be held at 10:00 am in the Community Room at the Library. Due to limited seating, this will be a ticketed event. Tickets are free and will be given out 30 minutes prior to the start of the show. A second showing of Inter-County Reptiles and Amphibians will be held later that morning at 11:30 am at the Hogsett Elementary School cafeteria in Danville. Tickets will not be required to attend the second program. All ages are welcome to attend.



Trivia Night for Teens and Adults

Thursday, June 30th at 7:00 pm

Teens and adults are invited to test their sports knowledge at this game show style competition. Snacks will be available and prizes will be awarded. This event will be held in the Community Room. Registration is required for Trivia Night, which is for ages 13 and up. If requested, a movie will be shown in the Storytime Room for the younger children (ages 5-12) of parents attending Trivia Night.
