Computer Classes in May
The Boyle County Public Library offers free computer classes every month. The computer classes to be held at the Library in May include:
• Computer Basics on Tuesday, May 3rd at 2:00 pm
Basic elements of the Windows PC operating system, including using a mouse/keyboard; highlighting, copying, and pasting text; common menus, toolbars, and shortcuts; overview of software and storage media.
• Introduction to Microsoft Excel on Wednesday, May 4th at 2:30 pm
This class teaches basic functions of Excel, the spreadsheet, including screen and worksheet elements; copying and pasting; auto-fill; and using mathematical formulas and functions. (Intro to Microsoft Word recommended.)
• Internet Basics on Tuesday, May 17th at 10:00 am
This class provides a basic introduction to the internet. Class includes getting online with web addresses; an understanding of basic terminology; and using search engines to find information and websites.
• Windows 10 on Tuesday, May 17th at 2:00 pm
An introduction to the new Windows 10 operating system. This class provides an overview of some of the changes in the start menu, pinning apps, task view, file explorer, and new Edge internet browser. (Computer Basics recommended.)
• Job Seeking and Applications on Monday, May 23rd at 11:00 am
An overview of resources available to job seekers through the library, and tips for the job search and application process. (Computer and Internet Basics recommended.)
• Facebook on Tuesday, May 24th at 10:00 am
Facebook is a popular social networking site that allows you to connect with everyone. You will be able to set your privacy and account settings to your specific needs. Learn how to upload pictures; update your status; and search for family and friends. Bring your account log-in information.
• eBooks: Overdrive Online Library on Wednesday, May 25th at 11:00 am
Learn how to check out and download thousands of eBooks and Audio Books from the Library’s collection for free. Bring your eReader device and library card with you for check out.
• iPad & iPhone on Wednesday, May 25th at 3:00 pm
Bring your iPad or iPhone to class to learn the basics or for some new tips. This class is also appropriate for those considering purchasing one of these devices.
