Library to Host "Writers Tribute" for the 2016 Kentucky Writers' Day Celebration
Kentucky Writers' Day was established in 1990 by the Kentucky General Assembly to honor Kentucky’s strong literary tradition and to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of Robert Penn Warren, the first poet laureate of the United States and winner of three Pulitzer prizes.
The 2016 Kentucky Writers' Day Celebration Weekend will run April 21-24 at various locations throughout Danville and at historic Penn's Store in Gravel Switch.
As part of the 2016 Kentucky Writers' Day Celebration Weekend, the Library will host a "Writers Tribute" on Saturday, April 23rd from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Over twenty authors, poets, writers, playwrights, and journalists with a Kentucky connection will be reading from original works. In addition, there will be book signings by various authors at this free event. (A box lunch is available for those who pre-order and pay. Lunch order forms can be downloaded at www.pennsstore.com.)
